Pyrite & Quartz History & meaningÂ
Pyrite, which name is derived from the Greek word pyr, meaning “fire,” because it emits sparks when struck by iron. It is opaque and pale silvery yellow when fresh, turning darker and tarnishing with exposure to oxygen. Pyrite crystals may be cubic, octahedral, or twelve-sided “pyritohedra,” and are often striated.
In ancient Japanese mythology, clear quartz was believed to be the physical form of a white dragon’s breath, regarded as a symbol of perfection. The mythology held that dragons were symbols of generosity and benevolence, so the crystal became associated with these values. In South America, native cultures thought Clear Quartz crystal skulls held their ancestors’ spirits. In  Ancient Egypt, Clear Quartz crystal was used to construct monuments as it was believed to channel the energy from the planetary system.
