Watermelon Tourmaline History & meaning 

As the pink tourmaline in the center was forming and thickening, exposure to additional minerals such as manganese and lithium caused the stone to change color overtime. This special Tourmaline was discovered at a mine in Newry, Maine in 1902, but can be found in Nigeria, Madagascar, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, and Brazil. Brazil is famous for being known as having the finest watermelon tourmaline ever discovered, more specifically around the Minas Gerais region of the country.
